On Sunday, Dec. 4, hundreds of New Haven youth and their families came to Southern for the 31st annual Friends of Rudolph event, receiving their first gifts of the holiday season.
The day’s events are run by volunteers, including SCSU faculty and staff members, students from various campus clubs and organizations, New Haven police officers, and New Haven area high school students.
For the past two years, Friends of Rudolph has been held as a drive-up event at New Haven’s Lighthouse Point Park due to COVID-19 concerns.
The remaining toys donated for the event are distributed by the New Haven Police Department across the Elm City.
