Once confined to Las Vegas sports books, betting analysis is now part of everyday sports coverage — a change Len Mead has witnessed from the inside.
Mead, an instructor of sport communications and sports marketing at Southern Connecticut State University, is helping national and local audiences understand how sports betting has become embedded in modern sports coverage.
A former vice president of programming, production and operations at DraftKings, Mead recently shared his perspective on “CT Today with Paul Pacelli” on WICC Radio and in coverage by KHQ-TV, where he examined the rapid growth of wagering content and emerging regulatory questions.
“Prediction markets are not considered gambling by law; they are considered commodities trading,” Mead said. “They’re like an exchange. You’re buying a share; will the Kraken win tonight?”
