Gregg Crerar has been chosen to join Southern Connecticut State University as its new Vice President for Institutional Advancement. He brings nearly three decades of experience in higher education, with a distinguished record of advancing institutional priorities through strategic fundraising, legislative engagement, and the cultivation of strong external partnerships.
Since 2023, he has served as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Western Connecticut State University, where he has overseen a foundation with assets exceeding $30 million. During his tenure, he has helped secure more than $7.5 million in philanthropic support while advancing a donor-centered strategy aligned with Western’s long-term goals.
Crerar’s connection to Southern is both deep and enduring. Over more than two decades, he served in a variety of advancement and leadership roles, including Interim Vice President and Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement, helping guide the university through periods of change while strengthening its culture of philanthropy. Throughout his career, he has built lasting relationships across campus, throughout the CSCU system, and within the broader community while consistently delivering meaningful results.
An alumnus who earned his master’s degree at Southern, Crerar returns with deep knowledge of the SCSU community and a strong commitment to advancing the university’s mission. Interim President Sandra Bulmer said, “I am confident his experience and dedication will serve the university well as he leads IA into its next chapter. I look forward to working with him as we continue to strengthen the university’s philanthropic partnerships and community in support of our students and our mission.”
Crerar will begin his new senior leadership role on July 10, 2026.
