SCSU Athletics to Honor Tim Quill with Scoreboard Dedication

Southern Connecticut State University Athletics and Recreation will dedicate the swimming and diving scoreboard at Bruce Hutchinson Natatorium in honor of longtime head coach Tim Quill on Friday, Oct. 9, at 1 p.m., as part of Homecoming and Family Weekend.

Quill, who passed away on February 11, 2026, at age 58, led Southern’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs for 28 years, guiding the Owls to 34 Northeast-10 Conference championships, 121 NCAA All-America selections, and 13 individual NCAA national championships. He was also named NE10 Coach of the Year 28 times.

The dedication will recognize Quill’s lasting impact on Southern and generations of student-athletes, honoring his legacy at “The Hutch,” where his teams established themselves among the nation’s premier Division II programs.

The ceremony is open to alumni, student-athletes, families, friends, and members of the public. It will also be livestreamed on the SCSU Athletics YouTube channel.

Southern swimming and diving alumni will continue the Homecoming celebration with the annual Alumni Meet on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m. in Moore Field House. Click here to learn more.
