Dr. Michele Vancour Appointed Interim Dean of the College of Health and Human Services

Dr. Michele Vancour has been appointed to serve as interim dean of the College of Health and Human Services, effective July 1, 2025.

Vancour earned her B.A. in English from Central Connecticut State University, an MPH from Southern Connecticut State University, and a Ph.D. in health education from New York University.

She brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and leadership to this role. Vancour began her career at Southern in 1998 as an assistant professor in the Department of Public Health and was the founding director of the SCSU Wellness Center as well as the director of Faculty Development. Most recently, she has served as executive director of Healthcare Programs in the College of Health and Human Services. In this role, she was responsible for providing dean-level support for the Department of Nursing as it transitioned to a school, moved into new facilities, and doubled its enrollment.

“Please join me in congratulating Dr. Vancour on this well-deserved appointment,” said Dr. Julia Irwin, interim provost and vice president for academic affairs. “I am confident she will continue to serve our students, faculty, and staff with the same commitment and excellence that have defined her career at Southern.”
