Jessica DeNigris, M.S. ’06, a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University’s Master’s in School Counseling program, has been named Seymour Public Schools’ 2025–2026 Educator of the Year.
Since 2007, DeNigris has served as the school counselor at Chatfield-LoPresti School, creating a warm, welcoming environment for K–5 students facing challenges at home or in the classroom. Her themed office—this year styled like a beach retreat—reflects her thoughtful approach to supporting students’ emotional well-being and academic success.
A lifelong Seymour, Conn., resident and Seymour High School alumna, DeNigris credits her family of educators and her graduate training at Southern for shaping her passion for school counseling. Superintendent Susan Compton praised DeNigris for her “passion, dedication, and commitment to helping every student reach their full potential.”
