A member of the Southern Connecticut State University community is turning a passion for cooking into a growing side venture.
According to a recent CT Insider story, Timothy Bristol, MS ’22, MPA ’24, an adjunct professor in the Sociology Department, has begun selling handmade bagels from his home in New Milford, Conn., through his catering and personal chef business, Epic Taste.
Bristol launched Epic Taste in 2024 as a way to continue exploring his culinary creativity outside of his academic work. Earlier this year, he expanded the venture by offering small-batch bagels that are proofed for 24 hours to develop flavor and texture. The menu features a variety of flavors, including plain, everything, spicy everything, onion, parmesan, blueberry, cinnamon raisin, and rosemary olive oil.
Bristol is also a Southern alumnus, having earned a Master of Public Administration in 2024 and a Master of Science in political science in 2022. Before starting Epic Taste, he spent more than two decades working in the culinary world, including operating a gourmet grilled cheese food truck called The Melting Truck. While teaching sociology remains his primary focus, Bristol describes the bagel venture as a creative outlet and “side passion project.”
