Dr. Mercedes Himmons, assistant athletic trainer and NCAA Diversity & Inclusion Designee at Southern, has been selected for the 2025-26 NCAA Division II Athletics Directors Association Women & Ethnic Minorities Mentoring Program. The yearlong initiative pairs emerging leaders with seasoned athletic directors to support their professional growth in collegiate athletics.
Himmons will be mentored by Dr. Lisa Goddard-McGuirk of Fort Hays State University. “This experience will be invaluable in aiding me to achieve my personal and professional goals,” said Himmons.
Director of Athletics Terrance Jones praised the selection: “Her dedication to SCSU Athletics and her passion for professional growth make her an ideal candidate for this program.”
