Jeff Stoutland, ’84, MS ’86, Honored with NFL Lifetime Achievement Award

Southern Connecticut State University alumnus and Super Bowl-winning coach Jeff Stoutland, ’84, MS ’86, has received the Paul “Dr. Z” Zimmerman Award for lifetime achievement as an assistant coach in the NFL.

Currently the offensive line coach for the Philadelphia Eagles, Stoutland has been a cornerstone of the team’s success since 2013, helping guide them to three Super Bowl appearances, two championships, five NFC East titles, and seven postseason runs.

Before his 43-year coaching career on the national stage, Stoutland made his mark at Southern as a standout player on the 1982 team, ranked as high as No. 9 in the nation, and later launched his coaching career with the Owls. He was inducted into the SCSU Hall of Fame in 2018 and returned to campus this past spring to inspire current student-athletes with lessons from his journey.

“I’m honored and privileged,” Stoutland told The Athletic. “If you focus on the task at hand and don’t get distracted, usually good things happen.”
