As the associate dean of Counseling Services and Wellbeing at Southern Connecticut State University, Nick Pinkerton spends his days listening, understanding, and working to ease one of the most invisible challenges facing today’s college students: loneliness.
Pinkerton, who leads Southern’s Wellbeing Center, recently spoke on Connecticut Public Radio’s “Where We Live,” joining experts to address the growing concerns around student isolation. According to Gallup, studies have shown that nearly 40% of college students experience loneliness, a reality that can affect their well-being, academic success, and sense of belonging on campus.
