Forging New Frontiers in the Life Sciences Industry

The annual Bioscience Careers Forum was held on Friday, Sept. 20 at the newly completed state-of-the-art life sciences tower at 101 College Street in New Haven. The event was hosted in conjunction with The Jackson Laboratory and the CSCU System.

As New Haven continues to emerge as a burgeoning hub for bioscience, this year’s theme, “Forging New Frontiers in the Life Sciences Industry,” was particularly timely. The forum featured introductions by state academic leaders; a panel discussion on the growing field of biosciences careers in Connecticut; a keynote address by Alex Nesta, a biology-focused Data Scientist at Vindhya Data Science; and a networking session where students engaged directly with representatives of leading bioscience companies and organizations.

The event was not just an opportunity for students to explore the high-paying and rapidly expanding field of bioscience; it also played a critical role in addressing the workforce needs of our region. By connecting students with local industry leaders, the forum helped to ensure that our educational efforts are aligned with the demands of Connecticut’s growing bioscience sector — contributing to the economic vitality of the New Haven area.
