Alumna Named Ansonia Public Schools Teacher of the Year

Ansonia High School’s Christine Davis, ‘96, M.A. ‘05, SYC ‘14, is the school district’s 2025 Teacher of the Year.

She’s been a lead English teacher, a master teacher (mentoring other teachers) and now heads up the education pathway program, where Ansonia students can earn credits at Southern Connecticut State University.

“I was completely in shock, and it felt really surreal,” Davis said. “I felt very humbled that my peers and students would think very highly of me, and it brought tears to my eyes.”

Davis is from Ansonia and graduated from the Assumption School in Ansonia and Sacred Heart Academy in Hamden. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English and secondary education, a master’s degree in English, and a sixth-year certificate in educational leadership from Southern.

“Christine Davis is truly an exceptional educator, dedicated to her students and colleagues alike,” Ansonia Superintendent of Schools Joseph DiBacco said. “Her passion for teaching and commitment to lifelong learning shine through in all aspects of her work. She’s not just a teacher but also a mentor, leader, and inspiration to those around her.”
