A winning week for Owls athletics was capped off on February 25 when the SCSU men’s track and field team won its fifth consecutive Northeast 10 Indoor Championship and 16th championship overall at The Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston.
Southern scored 225 points, the fourth most in NE10 Indoor Championship history, and placed first in five events – the 200-meter dash, shot put, pole vault, heptathlon and 4 x 800-meter relay. With his 200-meter gold medal, senior Nigel Green added to the six individual titles he has earned outdoors.
In addition, Men’s Track and Field has now qualified nine student-athletes for the NCAA Indoor National Championships, scheduled for March 11 and 12 in Pittsburg, Kansas, at the Harvey Dean Track. Pittsburg State University and Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau will serve as co-hosts of the championships.
