Southern Connecticut State University welcomed the holiday season with its annual Friends of Rudolph celebration on Sunday, Dec. 7, bringing 1,000 New Haven children to campus for a festive day of activities, gifts, and community spirit.
Hosted in partnership with the City of New Haven Department of Youth and Recreation and CrossPoint Federal Credit Union, the free event filled the Michael J. Adanti Student Center with arts and crafts, cookie decorating, holiday photo opportunities, and a special gift for every child.
The celebration also received local media coverage from WTNH News 8, with Daphney Alston, associate director of student involvement and leadership development, appearing on air ahead of the event to discuss this year’s program and its impact on New Haven families.
Friends of Rudolph is one of Southern’s signature annual traditions, reflecting the university’s deep commitment to community engagement and creating meaningful experiences for local youth during the holiday season.
