Alumna Jazmin Council, ’17, known professionally as Ch’Varda, was recently featured in a Daily Nutmeg story about her rise as a DJ, “Party Work” (Feb. 22, 2023). While majoring in psychology at Southern, Ch’Varda was also getting into electronic music, and after graduating she found her calling as a DJ and began to find gigs.
The rest is history: Ch’Varda now plays gigs around New Haven and across Connecticut and has made appearances at such events as New Haven’s Arts & Ideas and Seeing Sounds festivals and tailgates at Yale Bowl. Ch’Varda’s specialty, says the Daily Nutmeg article, “is beat-mixing, the live, without-a-net blending of one selection into the next.”
